Local Photographer

Ron Parks is a local Photographer from Austin Texas. He focuses his photographs on weddings. He takes many beautiful wedding photos at different locations in Austin. I like him because he takes really thoughtful photos.


I like this photo because it is elegant and speaks out. It uses the composition rule of balance.




I like this photo because it really brings out the saying "Come Hell or high water" and I thought that was clever. This photo uses avoiding mergers.

Mural Project

My group's theme for our Mural project will be Ombre. So we will fade the light colors into the darker ones to make a blended mirage. We are each assigned to a color, I am yellow.

Magazines Part 2

The main attributes to a good magazine cover is many things. Starting off, you need an image that will project confidence and boldness. You also need a magazine that will reach out and grab a reader's attention. Another essential key to magazine covers is purpose. How can you have a magazine without purpose? You can't. The reader needs to be actually interested in the subject and not just see it as another "boring" magazine.

On a magazine, words and pictures are most definitely essential, but each serves a different purpose. The pictures are meant to push and pull people's emotions, while words are used to captivate and draw in. Both together make the ultimate magazine.

"When shooting Solange Knowles for The FADER, we wanted to reference her timeless songwriting, and emphasize her classic presence in the image. This cover was shot with an Bx 10 View Camera for a simple, timeless vibe, bringing only SO plates of film to capture the perfect shot (compared to a standard 2,000-shot digital sitting). We took many conservative, close up shots of Solange, but still wanted that final, bold image. We chose yellow as the backdrop, because it paired well with the natural lighting from the windows and the contrast of colors in her outfit. Solange stepped onto the apple box herself, and the shot we chose was the very last plate of film."

Description:
In this photo she is portrayed as different. To me she looks as if she is almost thinking about something else, something more serious. She seems as though she wants to focus on anything besides the camera. The back ground is plain so she can be the main subject of the portrait, so that means it is clearly not environmental. She has a casual and quite natural look about her so you can focus more on the main subject, which is her outfit. She looks focused but elegant which really brings the attention around to how pretty and yet somehow graceful her outfit is.

American Soldier

A. I think the most powerful image is Down and Dirty page 24A. This is the most powerful image to me because it shows that even in times of chaos, he still prays to God to take a load off of him. He doesn't just brush it off. Sometimes even the toughest need some help.

B. The images fit together like a timeline. It shows each stage of his life and shows emotion through all of it. It almost tells the story for him. Including his struggles with drugs and how he turned himself in.

C. The captions enhance the photos by giving them eye-catching titles. The titles certainly capture attention and are used to speak out about the photo.

D. Ian started out as a teenager who needed direction in his life. He knew he had to do something so he enlisted in the army. His start was rocky, as he attained injuries and was prescribed medicinal drugs to help with his pain. He became slightly addicted, and after turning himself in and speaking with his father, he was on the right path again. He began to bulk up and return to his normal self, met a new girl, and ended up getting married quietly.

E. The photos featuring Ian are usually in present tense.

G. Photos can show a lot of emotion and detail that sometimes words just can't capture. It gives a story through reaching people's emotions.

H. You want to write a story because there is a limit to what photos can show. Sometimes they aren't enough and you have to describe what is happening.
